SPECIAL EVENT: TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT

The Fly Navy Heritage Trust is pleased to present the book launch of Captain Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown’s latest book ‘Too Close for Comfort’ and auction of the paintings in the book.

‘Too Close for Comfort’ is a breathtaking story of courage, skill and determination over many years. Captain Eric Brown CBE DSC AFC Royal Navy, is regarded as one of the greatest test pilots in history and the fact that he has outlived all his contemporaries is a testament to his skill as an aviator.

Neil Armstrong, astronaut and fellow naval test pilot, analysed Eric Brown’s career and produced a list of his close encounters, which form the narrative of the book. Fifteen of the most dramatic and hair-raising episodes have been captured in a series of paintings by renowned aviation artist, Michael Turner. The stunning artworks and artist’s sketches bring to life the atmosphere and drama of these moments in the author’s legendary career.

This is an evening reception in London on Thursday 2 July at Mead Carney Gallery, 45 Dover Street, Mayfair from 18.30 to 20.00.

Winkle will sign all copies of the book sold on the night. He has very generously agreed to donate all proceeds from the sales to the Fly Navy Heritage Trust. The artist, Michael Turner, has agreed to donate the paintings for auction, again with proceeds going to the Trust.
Tickets are £50.00 to include champagne, canapés and a copy of the auction catalogue.
